A collection of various nations that banded together under a federation that led the original exodus from humanity’s home planet. The capital of the nation remains on the original home of humanity, but the League’s influence spreads far and wide. Originally, almost all of humankind was united under its banner, however it was split apart after the secession of the Solarian Kingdom after ideological conflicts.
A progressive and pragmatic society resulted in the Aether’s biggest economic powerhouse, trading everything, everywhere and with everyone. Even the Solarians engage in regular trade, though this is starting to see sanctions due to rising tensions. Manufacturing is the League strong point, able to churn out an impressively large number of household products, alloys, weapons and ships and sell it to any potential buyer.
The nation is comprised of many states that agree to be ruled by a council of elected representatives to work together towards a common goal, while still keeping some amount of autonomy regarding certain matters. This created a diverse and multi-faceted nation, but introduces plenty of issues regarding endless bureaucracy and corruption. Void ship orders are finished quickly by large solar docks, but suffer from officials bickering over who to give the credits to. Nevertheless, the nation still manages to field the largest military force in the Aether, and have waged wars in the name of subjugating factions that threaten its peace and prosperity.
The people living in the League are culturally diverse and come from many walks of life, all coexisting together in the name of prosperity and generally just wanting to live a good life out in the cosmos. The League government is perfectly happy to let its citizens live however they want as long as production quotas are met and federal military tithes are maintained. The people are friendly and welcoming to outsiders with an open mind, but are fairly cunning and quick witted.
Following the kingdom’s example, many smaller nations and city-states have split away from the League in an attempt to stake out a living by themselves in the Aether, provided they are economically and politically stable enough to do so. The League tries to oppose such actions, but ultimately allow it due to economic pragmatism and rarely answers attempted breakaways with military force. The Solarian secession very nearly resulted in bloodshed, resulting in the two nations’ current diplomatic tensions.
